![]() The long summer vacation promises to be an exciting one when 12-year-old Jennie Gordon and her friends decide to form a club and hunt for colonial and Indian relics buried around the small New England town of Hinesdale. However, at the clubs first meeting, Jennie is hurt and angry when Judy, her best friend, brings along Jane, a new neighbor, and she is even more upset when the club decides to drop their plan of hunting relics and adopt an idea of Janes to form the Hinesdale Volunteers. Stubbornly refusing to accept Jane, Jennie is left out on her own and the summer passes slowly. The way in which she finally becomes a member of the Volunteers and how she and her friends do have an unexpected treasure hunt into the past, makes a lively story. |
