National Drug Codes (NDCs)

NDC numbers are identifier numbers for manufactured drug products. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) assigns a four or five digit number to identify a manufacturer that is registered and listed with the agency. The manufacturer then assigns a four-digit product identification number and a two digit size number to the approved product. Please note that most computer systems add a leading zero to 4-digit manufacturer's codes to make it a five-digit number, e.g., Hospira LRS shows up in my local Target and CVS pharmacy computer systems as 00409-7953-09 rather than 0409-7953-09.  The numbers below all have 5-digit manufacturer codes with a leading zero.  If you're looking for local fluids, print this page and call or visit your local pharmacies.  Note:  Abbott Labs is now marketing most products under the brand name of Hospira.
