The afternoon of  Jan.8, 1967
The village of Ben Suc was known for its' politicaly incorrect views.  On an early morning mission one could sometimes spot the "wrong" flag flying over the village square.  During Operation Cedar Falls, the 1st Infantry decided to change things.

Richard flew the second mission of the day in this area.  When T.F. Wallace returned from the morning mission he told him to watch this area because the 1st Infantry was flattening the village.

Richard said he could see the grunts moving through the village, and once spotted a tank driving through a house.  By the end of the afternoon the villiage was obscured by smoke.  When he returned a week later the whole area looked like a parking lot.  There was no evidence that the village had ever existed.
