Faculty Council Meeting

November 15, 2004

 

 

 

The November 15, 2004 HEA Faculty Council Meeting in the High School Library was called to order by President Nikki Van Ess at 3:30 p.m.

 

A motion to accept the minutes of the October 25, 2004 Faculty Council Meeting was presented by Vida Story and carried by unanimous vote.

 

Chris Ryan stated that school-based news stories appearing in community papers would feed into PRIDE efforts.  Chris requested ongoing emails from one person per school informing him of various school activities.  Ron Durso’s name was put forth as representative from the High School.  Volunteers are also needed to efficiently handle the paper work of organizing ideas put forth by faculty member.  Please contact Chris at c.ryan@hackensackschools.org if interested. 

 

Elaine Williamson, BCEA Representative, spoke about the NJEA Teachers’ Convention recently held in Atlantic City.  Elaine was a member of the Delegate Assembly and also attended the State Board’s meeting.  It was noted that a workshop on grievances might be scheduled upon contacting the Uniserve representative.

 

OFFICER’S REPORTS

 

Treasurer.  Lorelei Kaminsky presented the Treasurer’s Report.  A motion to accept the report was made by Vida Story and was carried by unanimous vote.

 

Corresponding Secretary.  Betty Meeks Manning state that the minutes of both the Board of Education and the November 15, 2004 Faculty Council Meeting would be sent out together this week.

 

Recording Secretary.  The Recording Secretary had no report.

 

 

President.  Nikki Van Ess noted that Vice-President Fran Borg has received some T.A.L.C. Committee reports.  T-shirt orders have been placed and delivery is expected by the end of the week.  Order forms will be emailed soon.

 

School Reports.  Individual school reports were discussed.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

Social.  There was no report from the Social Committee.  However, President Nikki Van Ess thanked Maria Matera for all her NJEA Atlantic City Convention work.

 

Legislative.  Vida Story thanked all for their efforts during the election.  It was noted that the letter-writing campaign is still ongoing.

 

OLD BUSINESS.  There was no old business.

 

NEW BUSINESS.  There was no new business.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS.  The Board of Education meeting has been changed to Tuesday, November 30, 2004.

 

ADJOURNMENT.  On motion by Vida Story, with no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:07 p.m.
