Faculty Council Meeting

November 5, 2007

 

The November 5, 2007 HEA Faculty Council meeting in the High School Media Center was called to order at 3:40 p.m. by President Fran Borg.  A motion to accept the minutes from the October 22, 2007 Faculty Council Meeting was made by Vida Story and approved.

 

OFFICER’S REPORTS

President. A motion was made by Vida Story for the Faculty Council to give President Fran Borg permission to send a letter on behalf of the HEA expressing disagreement of a policy regarding no public comment at the beginning of Board of Education meetings.  The motion was unanimously approved.  The next Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 13.

 

Treasurer.  There was no report.

    

Corresponding Secretary.  Eileen Hooper distributed DYFS information cards to the building representatives to be given to the members at each district school. 

 

Recording Secretary.  There was no report.

 

Vice President.  There was no report.

 

SCHOOL REPORTS

Individual school reports were presented.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Election. Vida Story reminded members about the importance of voting on Election Day. 

  

Norm Danzig, NJEA UNISERV Representative, distributed AR

(Association Representative) handbooks and gave an informative presentation regarding the responsibilities of building representatives. A question and answer period followed. 

   

OLD BUSINESS. Betty Meeks Manning reminded the members about the need to begin planning activities for Project PRIDE.

 

NEW BUSINESS.  There was none. 

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS.  Vice President Amy Fink encouraged members to attend the Teachers' Convention in Atlantic City (November 8, 9). BCEA will sponsor luncheons on both days.

 

ADJOURNMENT.  On motion by Vida Story, with no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
