Treasurer’s Report: Joann Montroni gave budget report

Joann talked about raising dues to $100.00 (currently at $70) discussion ensued about rising costs and a motion to investigate was suggested in which Ken Gubala will follow up by calling Norm for clarification and investigation.  Story/Fink majority yea, 2 abstained.

 

BCEA Report: Betty Meeks Manning yielded to Vida (under Legislative)

 

Vice President Report: Lou Ferrante asked that TALC reports be sent to him from now on because of negotiations.

 

President’s Report – Eileen had the following adjustments to the current list of building reps:

Fran Borg- added to middle school

Remove Ms Albolino from Hillers list

Remove Mr. Durso form High School list

Kim Moranda add to Fairmount list

Maritza McCalister add to Fairmount list

Jennifer Cenicola add to Fairmount list

BCEA has asked us to file a grievance against the new state health plan with an employee who can show that the change in plan that was not equal to or better (this is in our contract) than our previous health benefits plan.  BCEA wants to file by June 16.

 

Secretaries’ union wants to join with us.  A discussion ensued this too needs further investigation before a vote can be finalized

 

Motion was made and seconded to investigate the idea of merging the HEA and the secretarial association into one association vote was majority yea with 3 abstentions and 0 nos.

 

School Report:

Problem with substitutes during testing at the middle school.

 

Membership report in absencia: we have 3 new members

Social Committee Report: in absencia: Eileen announce the HEA dinner is Thursday.

 

Negotiations: Lou passed out a list of negotiation categories that each school needs to inform their membership about; they must prioritize the list. 

 

Also, signed into law “Sick Leave Back” is to be negotiated with each association and town.

 

Paid family leave of absence up to 12 weeks details to follow
