This program is a modification of an opensource Applescript Studio application called ID Infiltr8. vID Infiltr8 uses the same engine for mpeg4 files: the open source program AtomicParsley. vIDI has been modifed by me, BashfulBladder, to accommodate setting metadata in video files - specifically the new tags presented by iTunes. The "v" is slapped in front to designate its vid(eo) related nature. vID Infiltr8 can set most of the useful video tags:

TheMainWindow

Plus, it can set artwork - just drag & drop jpeg/png files onto the icon in the lower right on the drawer (it looks different when there is no artwork - hollow). Drag & drop as many as you want - but its best to drag them in the order you want them to appear in iTunes. Plus you can limit the file size for jpegs, convert to jpegs & square up slightly off pictures.

There are also a number of preferences that you can set for embedding default tags - access them through the vID Infiltr8 menu under Preferences. It should be flexible enough for most video-taggers. Plus, now you don't have to change the file extension anymore. You can also set a preferences item and avoid having to rename the file to get rid of the "-temp-1234" filename now too.

When you hit the Set Tags button, a dandy progress bar will appear showing how far along you are - no guessing. puck_lock has wholesale implemented the new progress bar system. Its a very clever implementation based on a "semaphore". I would have never thought of it. Actually, there is very little brand new code of my own - most of it was repetative copying and changing words. Where I did have problems, puck_lock came to the rescue (and I have to almost brush a tear from my eye.... almost.... wait.... no that was me being flatulent. woops). Because it was to be opensourced, he solved my problems when he could (not that it couldn't have been faster.... I'm just kidding - why am I thinking of molasses.... anyway...). vID Infiltr8 is released under the GPL - so you can copy whole sections of it - but then you also have to release the source to YOUR derivative program.

puck_lock has graciously allowed me space for this program, to host this page, and to accept bugreports & support requests at the main sourceforge site (dialup is the only thing available around me). You can of course gripe bitterly elsewhere - go and complain in leisure knowing I won't interrupt you. Since all 3 programs are really his (and has kindly slapped my name onto this one), we both decided it would be best if he knew as well & not have endless mail forwardings. That place is:

Here is vID Infiltr8 for Mac OS X 10.4.x (universal binary & AtomicParsley July 24 svn build - includes Applescript Studio source to vIDI):
