It is with great sadness I have to report the passing of a generation of Mailmans.
November 3rd, 2005 Art Mailman passed on. He is united with his two younger brothers George & Percy.
All three brothers served their country in the US Navy.
George served on an LCI during Normandy, the LCI-213. This was a landing craft used to transport infantry. A picture of the LCI-213 can be seen at a wesbite for Stanley Galik. Stanley's website also makes mention of the 213 at this site. The LCI(L)-213 was built at the Lawley & Sons, George shipyard in Neponset Massachusetts (closed in 1945) in November of 1942, delivered to Britain in 1944 and struck in 1946. The 213 also has a nice listing on Navsource.org. The 213 had four crewmembers KIA during WWII. George was a Quartermaster. During the Normandy invasion 9 ships destroyed and 5 damaged. The LCI(L)-213 took part with the landings at Utah Beach.

Just recently in time for Veterans Day 2005, I recieved copys of the War Diaries for Flotilla II. These I received from the son of Joe Logan from LCI(L) 216 & 219, who served alongside George. I will be adding information as I have time. Please if you have any further information please email me.
Art Mailman served on the DD-223 The McCormick
I have traced this line back to my great grandfather Percival Leroy Mailman who lived from 1889 - 1959. I believe his father may be a Richard Mailman who possibly married Fanny Frank but have also heard mention that he may be a Calahan who was adopted. I recently recieved a copy of his death certificate which listed his father as Richard Mailman but did not list a mother.
Please check out my newest web addition! Everyone in my near family should remember the large black player piano that used to be Percy Jr.'s, then George Sr.'s, then George Jr.'s, and *NOW* featured here!
I would also like to begin planning a re-union of the descendants of Percival Leroy Mailman sometime within the next year or two. If you are interested please feel free to email me at MLaferriere@Verizon.Net.
