Nobody suspects that the beautiful butterflies that descend into the charred remains of Yasha's village are really the messengers of the warriors' destruction. As Yasha is engulfed and snatched away by these fluttering demons, the remaining warriors' powers are put to the test. Can they rescue their leader from the palace of ice in which he has been imprisoned? And will they be able to find the sixth point of the star before Taishakuten overcomes them? Volume 2

At the dawn of time, the power-hungry General Taishakuten seized control of the universe. With one vicious blow, this tyrant created a reign of pure terror. Who could ever hope of overcoming this bloodthirsty killer?

Legend says that six points of a shimmering star, each point a warrior with amazing powers, would band together and restore justice to the universe. Five of the six warriors have set out to find the last point so that the prophecy would be complete. General Taishakuten, aware of the threat that the six points pose to his reign, is determined to thwart their efforts. The warriors' quest leads them right into the heart of Taishakuten's castle! As Taishakuten's guards descend on Ashura, the youngest and most powerful warrior, she is mysteriously transported in a blade of white light to another time and dimension. Will she return safely and in time to rescue Yasha, who now lies beneath Taishakuten's sword? For if any of the five are killed, all hope of saving the universe is lost!

Time is running out and the sixth point of the star is still unknown to the others. Is it possible that the last remaining warrior might be right under the eye of the evil general himself?

Commentary

This sword-and-sorcery tale is stylish and well written. BTW, the climactic battle between the good guys and the bad guy doesn't actually happen (at least not in the anime). I used to have subtitled VHS version and I enjoyed this title so much that I repurchased it on DVD.

Several years ago, I managed to track down the soundtrack for RG Veda, CSCL1630 (not to be confused with the character song CD, KICA-9) on the Japanime web-site:

A marketplace of fun stuff from the Land of the Rising Sun.
My first purchase direct from Japan came from Japanime. It cost almost as much to order the CD ($20.00 for the CD (I sent cash) plus $19.00 for registered mail with return receipt and return postage) as the CD itself, but, it was well worth the price. Unfortunately, Japanime has since taken down their CD sales page.
