Howdy!
My name is Douglas Baldwin and I am new to the Brazos Valley. I am a patent attorney with years of varied intellectual Property law experience -- see "About Me". My primary interest is in helping individual inventors, start-up companies, and small companies with their intellectual property needs.
Frequently, intellectual property is the primary asset of value for a start-up company. At the very least, it is certainly something carefully considered by investors. Yet, many who start companies do not clearly understand what intellectual property rights are important, how they are acquired and protected, and what they may cost.
In the Tab "Useful Information", I have provided some basic information on patents, what they are, what they can do for you, and what they cost. I have also provided a model patent application to aid you in better understanding how a patent application is constructed. This should help increase your comprehension when reading others' patents and, if you wish, provide a guide to drafting your own application.
My experience includes chemical and biochemical processes – alternative energy technology, biofuels, coal processing, petroleum refining, etc., as well as mechanical devices. For those things that I cannot efficiently handle I have numerous contacts that can be accessed.
It is my plan to provide on this site a periodic up-date of items of interest in Intellectual Property law. I look forward to serving you.
