During the Second World War, my uncle, Floyd N. (Hink) Henderson Jr. was a waist gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress in the 457th Strategic Bombardment Group (Heavy) THE FIREBALL OUTFIT, 92rd Wing, 1st Division, 8th Air Force, 748th Squadron stationed at Glatton, England. He flew on 22 combat missions over Europe in a plane called "THE WILD HARE". He had a stroke a few years back and was left partially paralyzed and unable to speak. I became interested in the U.S. Army Air Force not long after that. I have the greatest respect for American veterans. I never had to serve in the armed forces, but my grandfather Floyd N. Henderson Sr. served in the First World War (US Army), he was awarded the Purple Heart. My Dad's other brother, Thomas C. Henderson (USN & US Army) also served in WWII, my dad George E. Henderson (US Army) (See Henderson Military history at the bottom of this page) and my Mom's brother, my uncle (Buzz) Patrick James Ging (US Army) also a Purple Heart recipient served in the Korean War.I'm very interested in American aircraft especially B-24 Liberators, B-17 Flying Fortresses, P-47 Thunderbolts, P-51 Mustangs, F4U Corsairs as well as modern fighters and bombers. I enjoy studying aircraft NOSE ART from all wars. I have a collection of WWII Photos mostly from the 15th Air Force. I design photo montages for veterans and their families illustrating their war experiences. I also design NOSE ART.
