BIKES II

This page is dedicated to the American Motorcycle.

Some Indian advertisements from 1947 and 1948.

This is an illustration of an Indian 4 that I thought would have made a killer hill climber.
I don't know if anyone ever tried this with one the big fours, but what a monster it would be...

A City of Pittsburgh Police Department Indian near Schendley Park in Oakland and a Packard car.
I wonder what the infraction was? The fountain is still there, it's not far from the Carnegie and near where the Pittsburgh Pirates' Forbe's Field used to be.

One of my favorite bikes besides the Big Four was the Indian Chief. What a classic bike with the big fenders, leather and all that chrome.

Above are a few of the vintage motorcycles at the the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading Pennsylvania on the WWII weekend. This air show takes place every June and is well worth the cost of admission. There are always lots of WWII planes, fighter, bombers, all sorts of Army Jeeps, troops and USO girls as well as a few cool vintage bikes like this Indian and an H-D WLA.
Dig those helmets, sure beats those stupid nazi lids that some bikers like to wear.

---COMMENTARY---
What is up with all the nazi symbolism associated with some bikers? Iron crosses, swastikas and SS shit are the symbols of the loser. They are symbols of fools who blindly followed a madman. If you think that shit makes you look cool, think again.

Pick your poison- Trains, Planes, Dames or some Celtic Lace.
